Membership
Membership of the Charity is open to anyone who:
Has reached State Pension Age.
Lives within the St George the Martyr Charity area of benefit
Is on relatively low income and has relatively little savings
Those who have lived in the Area of Benefit continuously for five years or more may be eligible for Full Membership. Those that have not, can apply for Associate Membership.
The charity welcomes new members. If you think you might be eligible and would like to join please contact us by telephone (020 7407 2994) or e-mail (visitor@stgeorge1584.org.uk). If you e-mail or leave a voice message please provide your name, postal address, date of birth and telephone number.
Once we receive your enquiry we will telephone you to find out about your financial circumstances and, if we think you may be eligible, arrange a visit to talk through your application and prepare a short report for the trustees. They consider new applications on a quarterly basis, usually in February, May, August and November.
THE BENEFITS OF Membership
Currently, all Members of the Charity may enjoy:
A Christmas gift (usually a shopping voucher), which will be sent to you in early December
The opportunity to apply for a ticket to the Winter Party, which is normally held mid-February
The opportunity to go on free outings, theatre trips and short breaks (subject to availability of rooms/places/tickets and the Charity’s finances)
Free access to home hairdressing and chiropody services (subject to availability)
A newsletter, which is sent out three times a year, in March, July and November. The newsletter includes information on upcoming outings, theatre trips and holidays and how to book a place. You can find copies of previous editions on the newsletter by clicking on the ‘News’ tab above.
Our Charity Visitors, Philippa van Os and Cath Collins, may wish to visit you from time to time, to see how we can help you and confirm your ongoing eligibility.
Full Members of the Charity (see left) receive a discretionary charitable payment of £85 in March, July and November .
